How might we enhance learning from online articles by reimagining the user experience with cognitive and learning science in mind?

Brief

Frustrated with the existing way of reading articles, I decided to embark on a 6 month journey where I studied cognitive science and learning science textbooks to explore what a better interface for learning from articles would look like.

Outcome

I designed and programmed a fully functioning software application allowing users to learn from articles with interactive functionalities adjusted to their current knowledge level: such as understanding key concepts, simplifying selected text, exploring inferences (e.g. important relationships in the content), and getting intuitive explanations for challenging parts.

Technology stack: ReactJS, NextJS, Typescript, Framer Motion, HTML/CSS, OpenAI API.
